our second stop was florence one of the world's most architecturally beautiful cities and one that was the hub of the renaissance. florence is famous for its magnificent art and architecture. In fact, the city has also been called the Athens of the Middle Ages. the best-known site and crowning architectural jewel of Florence is the domed cathedral of the city, Santa Maria del Fiore, known as "The Duomo" of which you will see quite a few pictures in this series.
