weekend in beautiful and historic vienna with simanta, steph and julia was the first of two weekends we spent together. even though vienna is a compact city it boasts an astonishing array of monuments, palaces, parks and museums, which house an impressive array or art and artefacts from all over the world. we visited quite a few sites, like the hofburg complex, the palace and gardens of belvedere and the schoenbrunn palace and gardens in the two days we were there.

we had front row seats at our colleague and his wife's 40th birthday party at their farm on the outskirts of hamburg.
